Canal 9 (XEQ). Main cultural and educational programming, live station from Mexico! Talks, shows, music and more other! XEQ (Channel 9 analog, Channel 44 digital HDTV) is a Televisa flagship TV station, based in Mexico City. In May 2001 the station was rebranded as "Galavision" (which should not be confused with Univision's cable TV network of the same name in the United States of America). XEQ is repeated on various television transmitters throughout Mexico, often with local ads inserted. Founded in 1968, as XHTIM-TV Channel 8 operated by Television Independiente de Mexico (TIM). Previously, TIM has merged with Telesistema Mexicano becoming Television Via Satelite better known as Televisa. In 1985, XHTIM-TV Channel 8 has moved to XEQ-TV Channel 9 for give technical space to Channel 7. The Galavision schedule is mainly filled with foreign telenovelas, reruns of major Mexican Telenovelas, a lot of sports, especially football (soccer) and lucha libre (wrestling), along with gossip shows like NX. On January 3, 2007, Galavision debuted its first news program, Las Noticias por Adela. Prior to that date, Galavision offered no newscasts, as Televisa's news programming could be seen on XEW-TV, as well as its local stations such as XHTV. On August 26, 2010, Galavision announced that Las Noticias Por Adela would be moved to XHTV, retaining its time slot. On March 18, 2008 it was announced that an agreement was made between Grupo Televisa and NBC Universal that will see Telemundo programs on XEQ TV as well as its Sky Mexico satellite TV division and its Cablevision cable unit beginning in April, 2008.
